Searching for an Associate Priest

The Church of Good Shepherd, a church of 250 average attendances in the city of Vancouver, is currently seeking an Associate Priest:

1. Qualifications and Experiences
   1. He/she must be an Anglican ordained clergy with over five years of pastoral experience.
   2. An understanding of and firm stance in the Anglican Church in North America’s faith and worship.
   3. He/she must be fluent in English. Knowledge of Chinese including Cantonese and Mandarin would be an advantage.
   4. Must be supportive of bilingual (Cantonese and English) and intergenerational setting.
   5. Preference would be given to:
      1. Those with gifts and pastoral experience in local Canadian youths and young adult ministries.
      2. Those who have acquaintance with North American culture.
      3. Those with ability to understand the problems that a Chinese family usually faces in the Western culture would be an advantage.
2. Duties and Responsibilities 
   1. Giving major attention to the ministry of evangelism, with numerical growth in parish.
   2. Responsible for English ministry under the supervision of the Rector and working with the English Evangelist.
   3. Outreach, evangelism, nurture and disciple English-speaking youth and oversee the development of the English youth ministry.
   4. Be involved in teaching ministry, including Christian initiation class, Bible studies and Christian education.
   5. Assist the Rector in Sunday service sacraments, holy matrimony and funerals.
   6. To care for the aged and the needy, visit them at home and in hospitals and provide pastoral counselling and crisis intervention as well as regular visitation.
   7. To assist in supervising the church bulletin compilation, development of liturgies and compilation of the church’s annual report.
   8. Other duties as may be assigned by the Rector.
3. Remuneration
   1. Salary Package in the range of C$55,000 to C$65,000 per annum. (Includes: Benefits / Allowance / Vacation / Study Leave)

The Church of Good Shepherd, a church of 250 average attendances in the city of Vancouver, is currently seeking a Director of Children Ministry. The weekly hours of work are 10 to 15. The children ministry consists of the Sunday school and the Awana Club Ministry. The successful candidate will display a commitment to helping children become disciples of Jesus Christ, a love for children, previous experience in Christian Education, and a four year degree (preferably in Christian Education or a related area).
 
Job Description:
 

1. Homily (5- 10mins) in English service (9:00-10:30 a.m.; only in Praise worship services, 2-3 times a month), followed by a children program for families attending the service;

2. Sunday School (11:00-12:30a.m.): ministered to children (Grade 1-6) in ministry and worship;

3. Help out as leader in Awana, and coordinate and serve as link for children between Awana and Sunday School, and;

4. Provide children program for 4 parish wide events.

In addition, the potential candidate should be comfortable working in a cross-cultural environment, have an evangelical faith, be a good team player and possess good communication skills. Hourly remuneration is $15.00 but is negotiable subject to the candidate’s experience and qualification.
 

Qualifications:

• Currently studying in Christian Education or Children Education or equivalent.

• Experience in serving a children's ministry preferred.
